The second conference organized by The Clinic of Change reflects on "a year of change and progress in mental health" this Wednesday.
Can psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy be the answer to extreme cases of problems such as depression, anxiety, burnout, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders and addictions such as alcoholism? The answer from David Nutt and Celia Morgan is a resounding yes.
The two are specialists and world pioneers in an innovative therapy in the field of mental health using ketamine, the only psychedelic substance authorized for medical purposes in Portugal, and will be in Lisbon this Wednesday. In the PLMJ auditorium, from 2.30pm on November 6, the professor from Imperial College and the professor from the University of Exeter will be joined by the clinical director of The Clinic of Change, Victor Amorim Rodrigues, to analyze "A Year of Change and Progress in Mental Health".
"The fact that psychedelics can 'reboot'" the brain in the face of disorders such as depression and addiction is the most fascinating discovery highlighted by David Nutt, a specialist in the use of brain imaging techniques to understand the causes of addiction and other psychiatric dysfunctions, who is committed to discovering new treatments. The chief research officer of Awakn Life Sciences, which pioneered the method, points to the use of psychedelics as "the greatest advance in psychiatric therapies in the last 50 years".
