Interview with Celia Morgan, from Awakn Life Sciences, an international partner of The Clinic of Change: "Researcher heads research into treating alcoholism with ketamine - with good results. Private clinic brings this technique to Portugal."

Recent years have brought psychedelics to the fore in the treatment of depression and post-traumatic stress. Although they are still mainly experimental, studies and applications are growing. Celia Morgan, a scientist at the University of Exeter (UK), is leading research into the treatment of alcoholism with ketamine, specifically into how this substance can facilitate adherence to psychotherapy - and thus ensure fewer relapses.

The first results, the fruit of studies with patients and a clinical trial that has now entered its third phase, are promising. Now, the psychiatrist is visiting Portugal to talk about this work and how ketamine can be a safe bet for the future. Celia Morgan will be giving open lectures on this treatment until Wednesday at ISPA - Instituto Universitário, in Lisbon, to mark the inauguration of The Clinic of Change, a private clinic that will offer this therapy and which is a partner of Awakn Life Sciences, a biotechnology company for which Celia Morgan is a clinical consultant.
