The Clinic of Change is opening this week in Lisbon. It is the first ketamine-assisted psychotherapy clinic in Portugal in partnership with the world leaders in this treatment - Awakn Life Sciences, with licensed clinics in London, Oslo, Trondheim, New York, Los Angeles and Toronto, maintaining scientific research protocols in this area with institutions such as Imperial College London, the University of Exeter in the UK and the NHS (British national health service).

Ketamine is a psychedelic that creates a state of heightened awareness which, when combined with therapeutic support, counteracts the negative brain processes that bind patients to certain patterns of behavior and thought, freeing them to process deep emotions and repressed memories, thus achieving effective change.

"In the right doses and with specialized medical supervision, ketamine is safe, legal, has been used for decades in medical settings and is used in hospital emergency rooms all over the world as an anaesthetic - recently, and with enough scientific evidence, it has been proven to have effective antidepressant properties," say those responsible for The Clinic of Change.

To mark the opening of The Clinic of Change, the first to follow the Awakn protocol in the European Union, Celia Morgan, a British researcher who is one of the world's leading experts in psychedelic therapies, will be in Portugal. The expert will be at the conference "Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy: A paradigm shift in mental health" taking place at ISPA - Instituto Universitário.

The Clinic of Change said in a statement that it "is able to respond with a more effective approach to some of the biggest health scourges of the 21st century: depression, anxiety, burnout, post-traumatic stress, eating disorders and various types of addiction, including alcoholism".
